The 10th edition of Saint-Louis Art Itineraries, scheduled from May 4th to June 10th 2024, is set to have an international flair with the participation of artists from the United States, France, and African countries. According to a press release from Ndar Création, the organizing association, 18 American artists are expected to attend this event, which will also see participation from artists from Gambia, Mauritania, and Burkina Faso. In addition to Saint-Louis artists, participants will also come from the regions of Dakar, Thiès, Louga, and Ziguinchor.The event will take place at the Center for Research and Documentation in Senegal (CRDS), formerly known as Ifan in Saint-Louis, and will be included in the national cultural agenda. This 10th edition will feature the participation of 45 artists, 82 works, and 4 mentors. Celebrating contemporary art, the event will kick off with an exhibition opening in the presence of artists and authorities, according to the organizers. Workshops on plastic arts, drawing, painting, mosaics, and sculpture, as well as artist workshops and performances, are also scheduled.This year’s event coincides with the 15th Dakar Biennale of Contemporary African Art, Dak’Art, scheduled from May 16th to June 16th, as well as the Saint-Louis International Jazz Festival, scheduled from May 16th to 20th. Saint-Louis Art Itineraries have been organized every year since 2013 by Ndar Création and artist Abdou Karim Fall.The inclusion of international artists and the collaboration with prestigious events such as Dak’Art and the Jazz Festival brings a new dimension to the Saint-Louis Art Itineraries, making it a celebration of art on a global scale. This will not only attract a wider audience but also expose local artists to different artistic perspectives. Furthermore, the inclusion of training workshops will provide valuable opportunities for young artists to learn from experienced and established professionals.Additionally, the timing of the event is also strategic, as it takes place during the festive season in Saint-Louis, making it an attractive destination for art lovers and tourists alike.
