Campaigning heats up in Senegal ahead of snap legislative elections

As Senegal’s snap legislative elections draw near, the opposition and government are in a fierce battle for control of the capital, Dakar. With less than a week until the voting, activists from the opposition coalition are tirelessly going door-to-door across the city, while government supporters are being treated to cultural events. Both sides are optimistic about their chances of victory, as they believe they have the support of the Senegalese people. “We’re in a very good frame of mind,” said one activist. “We feel that the Senegalese people are becoming increasingly aware and even former supporters are now seeing the bigger picture.” Despite the high stakes and intense campaigning, the citizens of Dakar remain divided on who should lead their country. As election day looms, all eyes are on the outcome and the potential impact it could have on the political landscape of Senegal
