Yetu (Un)Limited, a pan-African production outfit, is set to pitch a diverse range of projects at this year’s European Film Market. The company, which consists of five creative producers, aims to tap into the growing potential of African and diasporic content.
Among the projects being pitched are the highly-anticipated second film from “The Ballad of Suzanne Césaire” director Madeleine Hunt-Ehrlich, and the feature debut of up-and-coming Senegalese filmmaker Awa Moctar Gueye. These projects, along with others, will be presented to potential partners at the European Film Market, held in Berlin.
Yetu (Un)Limited was founded in 2024 by Yanis Gaye, Melissa Adeyemo, Carol Kioko, Ike Yemoh, and Chloe Ortolé, after they met at a workshop hosted by the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE). The company was formed with the mission of unlocking the untapped potential of African and diasporic content, a market that has been steadily growing.
In an interview with Variety, Adeyemo explains how the idea for the company was born from the need for African producers to create connections outside of the continent. She says, “Oftentimes, when you go to a space like EAVE as an African producer, you’re constantly being reminded of how you should be connecting outside of the continent. For us, it became clear that we needed to form a collective and create our own opportunities.”
The Yetu (Un)Limited team is excited to present their projects at the European Film Market and hopes to find partners who share their vision for expanding the representation of African and diasporic stories in the film industry
