Nicolas Jackson opened up about his near move to Aston Villa before joining Chelsea in 2023. The Senegalese striker, currently playing for Chelsea, was close to signing with Aston Villa before joining Chelsea.
In 2023, Nicolas Jackson could have been playing for Aston Villa, but instead he joined Chelsea after the club paid £32 million to Villarreal. Although his first season in England had its challenges, Jackson has excelled in the 2024/25 campaign, becoming a key player in Chelsea’s attack.
Aston Villa Move Collapses Due to Injury
Prior to joining Chelsea, Jackson was on the verge of reuniting with former Villarreal coach Unai Emery at Aston Villa during the January 2023 transfer window. Emery, who now manages Villa, was eager to bring Jackson to Birmingham after their successful time together in Spain.
However, the move ultimately fell apart due to an injury, and Jackson remained with Villarreal until his eventual transfer to Chelsea. While the Senegalese striker may have missed out on an opportunity to play for Aston Villa, he has found great success with Chelsea and has become a crucial player for the team.
