Last Monday, July 15th, we had the pleasure of hosting Her Excellency Annalena Baerbock, the Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, on her visit to Dakar. The meeting provided an opportunity to review crucial aspects of the partnership between Senegal and Germany, based on shared values such as democracy, the rule of law, and the pursuit of peace and security. Discussions covered various strategic areas of cooperation, including renewable energy, where we are working together through initiatives such as the Compact with Africa (CwA).We also discussed our joint commitment to sustainable development, with a particular focus on combating desertification and promoting the sustainable management of natural resources. This visit also highlighted Germany’s contributions to essential projects such as the Emergency Program for the Modernization of Border Regions (PUMA), dedicated to improving infrastructure and living conditions in border areas.We reaffirmed our mutual determination to strengthen a partnership that benefits both sides, thus enhancing our bilateral cooperation for development and regional stability. This visit from the German Foreign Minister underscores our strong and ongoing commitment to deepen and expand our relationship, building upon the existing cooperation between our two nations.
