On Friday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese living abroad, along with his counterpart minister in charge of Senegalese living abroad, attended a plenary session at the National Assembly. Here, the deputies unanimously voted in favor of three bills authorizing President Macky Sall to ratify international agreements.The first bill, numbered 14/2023, authorizes the president to ratify the Agreement on Subsidies to Fisheries, adopted in Geneva on June 17, 2022. This agreement aims to promote sustainable fishing practices and ensure the protection of marine resources.The second bill, numbered 16/2023, authorizes the President to ratify the Constitution and Convention of the African Union of Telecommunications, signed on December 7, 1999 in Cape Town, South Africa and revised in Harare, Zimbabwe. This move further solidifies Senegal’s commitment to expanding and improving telecommunications services in the country.The final bill, also numbered 16/2023, allows the president to ratify the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education, adopted in Paris on November 25, 2019. This convention aims to facilitate the recognition of academic qualifications and promote international cooperation in the education sector.All three bills were passed without debate by the parliamentarians, indicating a strong support for the government’s efforts to strengthen international relations and partnerships.
