The health post in Cayar, a traditional fishing village, is in crisis. Health stakeholders accuse the mayor of the municipality of blocking the annual endowment funds of five million FCFA intended for the structure since 2022, for political reasons. This situation has led to expensive care for users and a deplorable reception for patients.According to the Head Nurse (ICP) Hamady Kâ, the massive presence of fishing factories in the region could be a solution to this problem. However, people had to take matters into their own hands by raising funds for the purchase of a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine.Despite these efforts, the health post still faces major challenges such as the lack of accommodation for health workers, the absence of ambulances for emergency evacuation and insufficient salary support for community staff.This is why the population has launched a telethon for the acquisition of an ultrasound machine and for the raising of the technical platform of the health post. This action is necessary to meet the needs of a population that has doubled in less than 20 years.In short, this article sheds light on the difficulties encountered by a health post in a fishing community due to political conflicts and a lack of resources. It also highlights the commitment of people to take charge of their health despite these obstacles
