Chelsea have been dealt another major injury blow, with first-choice striker Nicolas Jackson now sidelined until April, according to talkSPORT. The 23-year-old Senegal striker sustained a hamstring injury and is expected to miss action until after the March international break.
Jackson’s absence is a significant setback for Chelsea, as he has been a key figure in their attacking line-up, scoring nine goals and assisting five in the Premier League this season. He joins Marc Guiu on the injury list for the Blues, leaving manager Enzo Maresca with a selection headache.
In their recent FA Cup defeat to Brighton, Maresca opted to field French forward Christopher Nkunku as the lone striker, but Chelsea failed to find the net, with their only goal coming from Brighton’s goalkeeper. However, the Blues are confident in their squad depth and have a number of options to fill the striker role.
Apart from Nkunku, Chelsea also have wingers Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto in their ranks. There is also the possibility of Cole Palmer taking on a new role under the guidance of Maresca.
Despite the setback, Chelsea remains relaxed, with their massive playing squad providing ample cover for Jackson’s absence. The Blues will be hoping to maintain their strong form in the Premier League and mount a serious title challenge, despite their injury woes
