FM: Egyptian-Senegalese presidential directives to promote bilateral relations

In an important meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi and his Senegalese counterpart Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the two leaders emphasized the significance of bolstering bilateral cooperation in various political, economic, trade, educational, and cultural areas, as well as tackling terrorism.

In a press conference held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty warmly welcomed the Senegalese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall, and her accompanying delegation. This visit serves as a testament to the enduring ties between the two nations.

Honoring the enduring partnership between the two African nations, Abdelatty shared that Egypt was the first country in Africa and second in the world, following France, to recognize Senegal’s independence in 1960.

Furthermore, the bilateral discussions focused on the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, reinforcing the shared values and interests of Egypt and Senegal.

The talks also delved into enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including political, economic, trade, education, and cultural spheres, to elevate the strategic relationship between the two countries to new heights.

The officials also touched on the urgent issue of countering terrorism, an ever-growing threat in the world. Both leaders emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to combat this scourge, recognizing that unity and solidarity are crucial in effectively addressing this global danger.

Moreover, the positive and fruitful discussions between the two leaders were underscored by a joint commitment to promoting peace, stability, and development in the region and beyond.
