Her Excellency Madam Yassine FALL, Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, took part in the 52nd Meeting of the Ministerial Level Council of Mediation and Security this Tuesday, July 2nd in Abuja. She was accompanied by General Birame DIOP, Minister of the Armed Forces.The meeting focused on several important topics, including the political and security situation in the region, the humanitarian situation, the revision process of the Additional Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance of ECOWAS, as well as an update on the operationalization of Early Warning.During the meeting, the Minister reiterated Senegal’s stance on key issues, including:• the need for ECOWAS to adopt a more inclusive approach, paying greater attention to the concerns of youth, in order to achieve a community of people united by a common goal;• the importance of deepening democratic processes in member states, not just limited to elections;• the fight against corruption;• the need for increased humanitarian assistance to address the large number of displaced people due to the rise in terrorist attacks;• Senegal’s commitment to establishing a national early warning center as soon as possible.This article highlights the active role of Senegal in regional peace and security efforts in West Africa. It also emphasizes the country’s commitment to democratic values, the fight against corruption and the protection of vulnerable populations.Madam FALL’s call for a more inclusive approach by ECOWAS is particularly significant, as youth representation and engagement are key to building lasting peace and stability in the region.Senegal’s commitment to establishing a national early warning center is also commendable, as it demonstrates a proactive and preventive approach to addressing conflicts and security challenges.Overall, this article serves as a reminder of the important role that Senegal plays in the sub-region and its commitment to promoting regional integration and stability
