Eight students from the first class of geriatrician-gerontologists trained by the Faculty of Medicine of the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar have received their diplomas, marking an important step in improving the quality of care for the elderly in West Africa. This training, which includes degrees up to master’s level, aims to meet the growing needs related to the demographic transition and the ageing of the population in the region. The attraction of many participants from different countries underscores the importance of this initiative for the development of geriatrics and gerontology in the sub-region. This first promotion is a promising step forward in the care of the elderly in West Africa
