United plans flights to Greenland, Mongolia and northern Spain in search for next ‘it’ destination

In a bold move to attract more experienced travelers, United Airlines is planning a significant expansion of its international routes by 2025. The airline has announced plans to add new destinations, ranging from Senegal to Mongolia and Greenland to Palau, in an effort to tap into a market of travelers who are looking for more unique and off-the-beaten-path destinations.

Starting on May 21, United will offer three weekly flights from its hub in Newark, New Jersey to Palermo, Sicily. This will be followed by the launch of four nonstop flights per week to Faro in Portugal’s Algarve region on May 16, and three weekly flights to Portugal’s Madeira Island on June 7. On May 31, United will also begin offering nonstop flights to Bilbao, a city in northern Spain, which will further bolster its existing service to popular destinations in Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

United’s focus on expanding its international routes comes at a time when many travelers are looking for fresh and lesser-known destinations to explore. By offering flights to these new and exciting locations, United is aiming to appeal to the growing number of travelers who are tired of the usual tourist hotspots in Paris, Rome, and Tokyo.

With its upcoming inaugural flight between Newark and Palermo, United is showcasing its commitment to meeting the evolving demands of travelers. As the airline continues to expand its international reach, it is clear that United is dedicated to providing its customers with a diverse range of options when it comes to planning their next adventure
