Bilateral Meeting Between Her Excellency Mrs. Yassine Fall and H.E. Mr. CHO Tae-Yul on the Sidelines of the Korea-Africa Summit

On June 4 and 5, 2024, the African-Korean Summit took place in Seoul, South Korea, with the participation of government officials and leaders from both regions. During this summit, the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Madame Yassine FALL, held a bilateral meeting with her Korean counterpart, the Honorable CHO Tae-Yul. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss matters of mutual interest and to strengthen the strategic partnership between their two countries.The meeting between the two ministers was a clear indication of the determination of both countries to strengthen their diplomatic ties and explore further cooperation opportunities. Both ministers agreed that there are vast potentials for cooperation in various areas such as trade, culture, education, and technology.During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the current challenges facing both regions, including the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need for joint efforts to combat the virus. Minister FALL expressed her appreciation for the assistance provided by Korea to several African countries in their fight against the pandemic and emphasized the importance of international solidarity and cooperation in overcoming global challenges.As a strategic partner, South Korea has been making significant contributions to Africa’s development, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and economic development. Minister CHO reiterated Korea’s commitment to continue supporting Africa’s sustainable development and the importance of strengthening communication and cooperation between the two regions.In conclusion, the bilateral meeting between Minister FALL and Minister CHO was a success in strengthening the longstanding friendship and partnership between Africa and Korea. Both ministers stated their commitment to continue working together to promote mutual prosperity and sustainable development. The summit ended on a high note with the signing of several agreements and a joint declaration to deepen cooperation between Africa and Korea. With the increasing interest in Africa’s potential, it is expected that the partnership between the two regions will continue to grow and flourish in the coming years
