Discussion on cooperation between H.E. Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and H.E. José M. Pereira Neves in Praia

Praia, Cape Verde – The Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Yassine Fall, is currently visiting Praia with a government delegation. His presence in the country was marked by a warm reception by the President of Cape Verde, H.E. José M. Pereira Neves, at an official meeting.Ms. Yassine Fall accompanied H.E. Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, who is Chairperson of the African Union Commission and Head of the Senegalese Delegation, on her visit to Cape Verde. The two heads of state held fruitful discussions on bilateral cooperation between their respective countries and on topics of common interest, especially integration in the West African region.During their meeting, President Pereira Neves and President Faye both expressed their willingness to strengthen ties between their countries. Cape Verde and Senegal have enjoyed strong relations for many years and the two leaders stressed the importance of continuing to develop this bilateral cooperation in a context of growing regional integration.Cape Verde, a small island state off the coast of West Africa, is a strategic partner for Senegal. The two countries share a long history and a common linguistic and cultural community, in addition to close economic relations. Cape Verde is a member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), as is Senegal.Ms. Yassine Fall also visited the headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States in Praia, where she met with the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Marcel De Souza. The two leaders discussed progress in regional integration and the importance of strengthening cooperation among different ECOWAS Member States to address common challenges and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.Ms. Yassine Fall’s visit to Cape Verde testifies to her Government’s desire to strengthen relations with its neighbours within the framework of Senegal’s regional integration policy. Senegal’s commitment to regional integration has been reinforced by the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye at the African Union Commission.In conclusion, this visit to Praia marks an important step in the consolidation of relations between Cape Verde and Senegal and illustrates the continuation of cooperation and integration efforts in the West African region. The presence of Ms. Yassine Fall, accompanying H.E.
