On Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 10 a.m., under Decree No. 2024-1880 of September 4, 2024, the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye called the National Assembly for an extraordinary session. The purpose of this session is to examine bills considered to be priorities, in accordance with Article 84 of the Constitution.

One of the texts submitted to the deputies for consideration is a bill that authorizes the President to ratify the African Union Convention on Transboundary Cooperation. This strategic document aims to strengthen security and development cooperation among neighbouring African countries.

Other issues on the agenda include the draft regulation law for the management of the 2022 financial year, a key document to ensure transparency and accountability in public financial management. The parliamentarians will also examine the draft law on the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), a key institution for the promotion and protection of human rights in Senegal.

Finally, the General Policy Declaration (GPD) will also be discussed during this extraordinary session. This is an important step for the government in presenting its priorities and policy directions for the coming months. This meeting is of paramount importance for the government, which will seek the support of the National Assembly on these strategic issues for the future of the country.
